Tamia
Canadian singer-songwriter Tamia Marilyn Washington Hill, known simply as Tamia, has carved a successful path in the R&B world for over two decades. Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, she displayed musical talent early on, participating in singing and dancing competitions. Her career took flight in the mid-90s with a development deal and a Grammy nomination for her collaboration with Quincy Jones. Tamia’s self-titled debut album in 1998 solidified her soulful vocals and established her as a rising star. Throughout the 2000s, she released a string of successful albums under Elektra Records, including “A Nu Day” and “More,” the latter featuring the hit single “Officially Missing You.” While commercially successful, Tamia later sought creative freedom and founded her own label, Plus One Music Group.
