Bread
Bread was an American rock band formed in 1968, known for their soft rock and folk-influenced sound. Comprising David Gates, James Griffin, Robb Royer, and later Mike Botts, the band gained prominence in the early 1970s with a series of melodious and introspective hits. Their self-titled album Bread (1969) and subsequent releases, including Baby I’m-a Want You (1972) and The Best of Bread (1973), produced enduring classics like “Make It with You,” “Everything I Own,” and “If.” Bread’s music, characterized by Gates’ smooth vocals and the band’s skillful blend of acoustic and electric instrumentation, earned them a significant following and critical acclaim. Despite disbanding in 1973 and reuniting briefly in the early 1970s, Bread’s legacy endures through their influential contributions to the soft rock genre and their continued popularity in popular music.
